Michael's Art and Web Design

I grew up in Santa Monica, California where I went to school from elementary through my first 2 years of college.

I love the beach, its beautiful sunsets and pounding waves, and the magnificent power and awe of the "big city". And I found that this stimulating environment has helped me appreciate all the many colorful and dynamic cultures far away that existed.

Raised by a strong single mother, I had a very liberal upbringing. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have been exposed to art, music, dance, sports, literature, and world travel. I was both an active observer and participant.

Having diverse people and experiences to draw on has led me to a path of creativity. I carried these experiences with me when I went away to art school at the Art Institute of Chicago. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts and Design and a Minor in Film and Media from the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.

After graduation, I moved to San Francisco for a couple of years doing art and pursuing a film career.

I then moved to New York City for over 3 years, seeking new experiences and ideas, while continuing a film career as an Art Director and Production Designer.

I also indulged in a newer, more eclectic form of art based on found objects and assemblage-style.

After five and a half years I decided to return to LA, which has always been home to me, with an expanded, yet focused mind.

Within a couple years, I decided to go into another direction -- creatively! I began learning graphic and web design. I took some classes, but mainly taught myself. Within a short time I took on some clients.

By early 2004 I was working as a webmaster full time, and have been doing it since.

I currently work as a Web Developer at Spike.com, a company within the MTV network, in Santa Monica, CA.

My background education and professional experience have provided me with a keen eye for detail and design. My expertise is both in traditional media, such as art, film, and video, and cutting-edge technologies, such as web-based and digital media.
